Alyssa Denny (Market Manager)

Alyssa is passionate about food, people and the environment.  It is her mission to support the farmers who feed us and educate consumers about where their food comes from and how it’s grown. She is the produce buyer and manager of The Hollygrove Market & Farm.  She gained experience growing and selling food by traveling to Northern California and Southern Oregon to work on two organic farms. After graduating with a degree in sociology and environmental studies form Tulane University, Alyssa worked as an outdoor environemtnal educator with TREE (Teaching Responsible Earth Education).  After attempting to grow her own food in the city and realizing that there is hardly any clean soil, Alyssa decided to make some. She began to volunteer at the Market & Farm helping out with composting.  It wasn’t long before she was hired part time to assist wherever it was needed.  A year later, after learning the ropes and working hard, she started the management position.  Now she sees farmers regularly, buys their produce and puts it into the hands of over 100 people each week.  In addition to her regular job, Alyssa helps to run Rise Up Composting Services.  She and her partner collect the organic waste of several restaurants and coffee shops, compost the materials and sell the nutritious finished product at the Market.

Eric Bucich (French Market Manager)

I have had the idea of eating organic, purchasing locally and being mindful of our earth, since I was young. At the age of eleven I worked at North Country Food Co-op and was a student at S.E.A. Free School, where the norm was to question authority, speak your mind and protest what you felt was important. I was also lucky enough to have a mother who supported my outlandish ideals. As I grew up and had children of my own, I slowly slipped into a position as a cog of the machine,  (going to college, working and purchasing in corporate America). A cog that created much friction, but, none the less a cog. Now that I have fulfilled what I consider my agreement as a parent, I am ready to once again uncog and reground myself as an activist of what I believe is important. Buying Local, Supporting Local Markets And Farms, my friends and neighbors.
